Tips To Healthier Eyes

Exercise Regularly

Exercising reduces your risk for diabetes and high blood pressure, among others. Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness.

Include Leafy Greens In Your Diet

Dark leafy greens, primarily spinach and kale, are rich sources of lutein and zeaxanthin. These anti-oxidents benefit the macular area of our retina, responsible for central vision.

Quit Smoking

Smoking increases the risk of cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye, among other risk.

Regular Eye Examinations

There are many conditions of the body that can be seen by examination the eye. Additionally, most conditions that lead to reduced vision and/or blindness are painless. Regular eye examinations allow the best opportunity to detect risk early.

Wear Sunglasses When Outdoors

Increased exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun leads to cataracts at an earlier age. It also causes fleshy growths on the eye known as pingquecula/pterygium. Wearing lenses that absorb UV light reduces this risk and also reduces the risk of skin cancer around the eyes. When these lenses are tinted and polarized, the amount of UV light reaching the eye is reduced further.

Reduce Stress

Stress can impact our health in many ways. It can increase blood pressure, which can impact vision. Stress can also lead to blurring of central vision, known as central serous retinopathy.
